So the end of.......

Not Radio Tircoed!! but 2008...what a year!! sorry i've not kept the blog page up to date but what with work, and trying to keep the station going it's been a very busy few months, i must state that this has not been a "one man job" far from it without the help of derek and phil i think i would be a very broken man also a big,big thanks to bob and steve for all the support they have given the 3 of us. So 106.5FM Radio Tircoed hit the airways on December 1st after a lot of sweat
and dare i say it swearing(mostly by me under my breath!!) Radio tircoed is here for the next 5 years and longer with a bit of luck!Iwould also like to thank all the broadcasters(i hate the word Dj)....Djs do disco's......Broadcasters do RADIO......haha. the one thing about us we give YOU the listener the music you want to hear and if you want you can come and join us, we need new Broadcasters dont worry if you dont know what to do we'll teach you all we know.

Well Hello

Just thought i'd pop into the blog page and say ...DECEMBER 1st 08..we are right on course for the day, so no matter what you may hear or be told "we are going live on 106.5" (hey that sounds like a good jingle) it has been a very hard slog. also please,please support us on November 14th for the Big Eat, Phil and Myself are not looking forward to it at all but these things are sent to try us (why us?) So to finish can i say thanks to all at tircoed for the help and support we have had

Less than 2 to go!

With less than 2 months to go to the 1st of December, we are looking for companies in South Wales (and beyond) to help with funding the station. Donate something, no matter how small the donation, every little helps, and you will be helping a community radio station to get on air and stay there!

Yes Folks at long long last we go live at 7.00am Tuesday 1st July 2008 ok its only for a month,
but hey we done it! Lots of hard work done by all, a big thanks to Bob for sorting the phone line out. so right world what can you expect? well, Music ,chat,and lots of fun!

Latest News

As most of you will know, OFCOM refused our application for a SRSL in December. The reason? XFM has launched in Wales and apparently our small 1 Watt broadcast would somehow affect their listening/advertising figures. I spent the whole of last week batting emails backwards and forwards to OFCOM to try and take a pragmatic view on this, but 'rules is rules' as laid out by the Community Radio Act. At least our deposit of £400 has been returned.

To demonstrate my commitment to Radio Tircoed I have loaned the RT account £5000. The Tircoed Trust has done the same. The trust Articles of Association and Financial Statement have been forward to OFCOM.

Geoff A and I will be visiting the Sound Broadcasting Exhibition next week. We need to purchase a new transmitter as ours is non compliant. The good news is that we now plan to launch in the first quarter of 2008 (XFM and OFCOM permitting)

More changes have to be made to our broadcasting policy and I'll be working on these in the next week or so.

So,So Sorry.....

As you all should be aware by now Radio Tircoed will NOT be going "full time" on December 1st this decision was not taken lightly, by Bob, Hywel or myself. As Deputy Station Manager I feel so sad that this has had to happen but at the end of the day we will be live in June (if I have my way sooner!) so what went wrong? money...lack of simple as that, I must take my hat off to Hywel, the man has pulled out all the stops to get as many people to advertise as possible but at the end of the day we need to apply for more grants I'm sure you all understand the pain and heartache that we have had to reach this point. On the good side we will be doing a srsl on December 4th until Jan 1st 08 I will be getting in contact with you all soon with more information

lets aim for a December srsl that nobody will forget, and, when we do start full time LOOK OUT FOR
